It’s a Hard Knock Life Part 3

27 02 2009

It has been interesting observing and delving into the charts of Sun-Saturn individuals, on the surface most of my examples don’t appear self-conscious, unconfident, or blocked in self expression. Saturn as the “mask” shows us how intelligently and powerfully well defended this planet can be. Fears are covered up, and a display of over self-confidence and even egotism is obvious (Sun). The next example I will show you is another outrageous character Chart Here.

Dali Salvador

Dali has been described as having an egocentric nature, he describes his imagination as so intense, that he can even remember the intra-uterine-images. He described it as paradise with the colours of hell. Dali began painting form the age of 6. Dali’s childhood was full of  perverse and sadistic elements that become a major symbolism in his art work. Dali wanted to stamp his individuality onto the world. Dali performed acts of sadism and masochism.

In Dali’s natal chart he has four planets in Taurus in the 11th house square to Saturn in Aquarius 8th house. The sign of Taurus is known for it’s strong artistic ability. Venus rules Taurus the goddess of love and beauty. Taurus responds to physical beauty, pleasure, nature and has a natural sense of design. Taurus is often skilled in painting or photography.

Dali had a compulsive  need to bring ‘form to his art’, a need to prove himself through a painful feeling of inferiority and separateness from society (Saturn in Aquarius). Dali had a powerful need to express his individuality to the collective in practical, artistic expression (Sun in Taurus) bringing about growth and change.

Dali had enrolled in the college of fine art and initially he was a model student, he soon regarded his contemporaries and tutors both as inferiors. His shyness and fears almost crippled him. Terrified of everything, he was afraid to cross the street by himself and was completely unable to face the challenge of public transportation. He could not buy new shoes because of his phobia about exposing his feet, and he carried talismans to ward off evil spirits. This type of fear was described in Liz Greene’s book ”Relating” a discussion on the psychological types and element of earth. Dali’s natal chart overall is the “earth” personality. Planets focused in the 11th house in the natal chart symbolise a need for collective contribution, hopes and wishes. Dali’s Taurean planets in the 11th sector of the chart describe practical and artistic aspiration focused through collective ideals and social progress.

By Liz Greene:

“The Earthy type being sensation orientated, possesses an inferior function a rather primitive intuitive sense. In some cases this stunted intuition beleaguers him with irrational fears and vague apprehensions of a negative kind which perpetually interfere with his simple black-and-white world. Earth has a longing for what he calls the spiritual, although this frequently expressed as a secret fascination or “belief” in ghosts, psychism, and other parapsychological phenomena without any understanding of the implications inherent in the existence of this sort of ”supernatural” world.”

Later in life Dali suffered mental illness, as many great artists do. The Moon is angular in Aries 9th house square  to Uranus. A fiery Moon-Uranus aspect, explains his wild untamed character. Moon in Aries is emotionally impulsive and independent.  The Moon is challenged (part of a t,square) so Dali can be restless and moody, and touched by higher levels of reality. The Moon is very heightened to collective energy, and he has a need to illuminate, be original, unconventional, eccentric and non conformist (Uranus). The Moon can certainly take flight (9th) into fantasy (Neptune 12th) and eccentricity (Uranus). His art work is infused with bright colour and strange symbolism.

Another Sun-Saturn is Arnold Schwarzenegger

Arnold has Sun/Saturn/Pluto all conjunct in Leo 1st house. Arnie has a powerful need to express himself  and possesses strong perseverance and will. A high focus upon his physical appearance. Arnold may have been too hard on himself during his training, he was fuelled by feelings of inferiority, but what a ’display’ of physical strength he presented. Arnold has a powerful (Pluto) endurance (Saturn). And I guess you have to be a little ‘obsessed’ with your physical body for this amount of training. To achieve these results he needs to be highly disciplined.

Sun-Saturn individuals all possess a common thread in their personality but expressed in different ways according to their own natal disposition. Karen Carpenter (Sun in 10th Pisces) was destined for artistic expression in her career.  Saturn in Virgo 4th overshadowed her Sun with fears, self-doubt and obsessive compulsive need to be perfect. Her deep insecurity (Saturn 4th) eventually destroyed her self esteem. Moon/Pluto shows her obsessive nature . Karen found it extremely difficult to be nurtured (dark moon). Uranus Rising square Mars describes a self-willed individual and she could detach from her own bodily instincts (Uranus in Cancer/1st).

Jim Carrey aimed to perfect his comedic timing and was a perfectionist, probably doubly hard on himself with Sun in Capricorn, and underneath he was a man who suffered deep depression. Dali himself was plagued by crippling fears. Arnold Schwarzenegger built a body armour he competed with others to be the best, strongest, and most powerful. The brawn may have  masked deep feelings of inferiority regarding his physical appearance. To outsiders he appears vain about his appearance (Leo planets 1st), but a deeper look at Saturn in the natal chart reveals persistence and determination.

It’s a Hard Knock Life Part 2

24 02 2009

In the 2nd part of this article I will show you some more example of Sun-Saturn, the first example might surprise you at first because he comes across in his films as the joker, rubber face and is ‘the man in the mask’. It’s actor comedian Jim Carrey. Chart Here:

Jim Carrey

Saturn in Jim Carrey’s chat conjunct his Capricorn Sun. In Sue Tompkins “Aspects in Astrology” she gives an interesting view on Sun-Saturn.

Sun-Saturn, as I have suggested, takes itself rather seriously but these contacts are quite common in the charts of comedians, who amongst other things have to have a good sense of timing. Examples include Lucille Ball and Eric Morecambe. I have found the conjunction aspect is common in the charts of clowns. Amongst other things, clowns are protecting themselves by wearing a mask. For most us our skin is our physical defence between us and the outside world. In wearing a mask, a clown is wearing a double defence. And more than all comedians, clowns are saying laugh at me. There is a bitter irony in the message of  ‘don’t take me too seriously’. Part of the Sun-Saturn defence system often involves hiding behind a mask, a defence system of some sort, for this type is often frightened of the nakedness that real exposure would bring.

It has been well documented that Jim suffers from deep depression. In the 60 Minutes interview he explained, “There are peaks, there are valleys. But they’re all kind of carved and smoothed out, and it feels like a low level of despair you live in. Where you’re not getting any answers, but you’re living OK. And you can smile at the office. You know? But it’s a low level of despair.” Carrey further revealed, “I was on Prozac for a long time. It may have helped me out of a jam for a little bit, but people stay on it forever. I had to get off at a certain point because I realized that, you know, everything’s just OK.”

Jim Carrey works extremely hard, and has achieved a high degree of fame for his comic roles. I think it has also been vitally important that he has expressed his more serious nature through dramatic roles. Some of his zaniness is through Mercury/Jupiter in Aquarius an electric, progressive, sense of humour. I read that he was writing a book about depression and he joked “Who better than a comedian to write a book about being depressed”. There is nothing like comedy to help Sun-Saturn lighten up a little.

By Katherine Paterson

When Saturn hides its anxiety it doesn’t usually mean that Saturn wouldn’t be conscious of it, on the contrary, Saturn is usually highly and painfully conscious and often also ashamed of being afraid or anxious. But Saturn doesn’t want to let its fears or any other uncomfortable feelings influence its work and duties. They always come first. “To fear is one thing. To let fear grab you by the tail and swing you around is another.”

Pink

Singer Pink has Sun conjunct Saturn in Virgo, and her songwriting has expressed some very dark and black thoughts. Pink is not afraid to express herself. However, deep inside and behind the ”fame and recognition” (Sun) she struggles with “who she is”. All of her songs are written from her own painful experiences Chart Here. Pink has the challenge of seeing her light and shade, and bringing them both into alignment. In a woman’s chart astrologer’s often look to see if there is difficulty with a male partner, as often identity issues are traced back to the original father/daughter relationship.  Often women with Sun in hard aspect to Saturn need to build the male part of their psyche from scratch, because it is not easily inherited from the father. Pink may feel let down by the men in her life, and she may carry unconscious hostility towards men (or Bush lol). Hostility to authority is certainly evident in her personality. However, what is plain to see is that Pink has developed powerful self determination, and through her struggles has gained recognition for her talents.

It’s a Hard Knock Life Part 1

22 02 2009

This is an aspect I have in my natal chart, it is angular and falls across the Asc/Dsc axis. For most of my life I have felt the crushing weight of low self confidence in meeting people, and often feeling a failure in life. It has taken a long time to build new self beliefs.

Struggle in Development/Sun-Saturn

  • Lack of self confidence and persistent feeling of not being good enough.
  • Seeks recognition/powerful need to prove oneself
  • Self-Inhibitions
  • Strong Defences
  • Self Conscious
  • Fear of Failure
  • Self critical
  • Insecurity
  • Shyness
  • Suggests difficulty with father, husband.

The Sun is about creativity and vitality and is the life force of the chart. The Sun symbolizes the nature of  your will and purpose. Astrologically the sun is centre of your being. Saturn is about limitations, responsibilities, hard work, and is the boundary of the personality; Saurn  gives the ego (Sun) structure and form. On the personality level Sun-Saturn individuals can take themselves far too seriously, often they will have struggled from childhood with self doubt and authority figures.

Lack of ’self confidence’ is the core problem with the hard aspects (conjunction, square and opposition). Sun-Saturn can be be self critical, and sets extremely high standards for themselves, and they live in constant fear of failure. The main challenge of this aspect is achieving ‘real deep down to the bones confidence’.

Saturn is considered to be the most challenging planet in astrology, in traditional terms it is refereed to as the greater malefic. Astrologically Saturn rules depression, fear, obligations and our shadow self. Our most difficult lessons in life can be linked to Saturn’s position and aspects in the natal chart. Negative ‘ beliefs’  is what fundamentally keeps us self imprisoned, and restricted.

Singer Karen Carpenter has Sun in Pisces opposed Saturn in Virgo natally, and she died from heart failure very young in life due to her ongoing battle with anorexia nervosa. Karen was known to be extremely hard on herself, and she was acutely sensitive to criticism. Karen has her Moon in Leo conjunct Pluto, which can be another emotionally controlling aspect resulting in obsession and powerful moods. Karen became her own worst enemy, as she slowly starved herself to death  Chart here.

The feeling of ‘never being good enough’ is a self judgement and a harsh one. However, it is often the individual themselves who set these negative thoughts in motion whether consciously or unconsciously. Sun-Saturn can often be paralyzed by anxiety, fear, shyness and self doubt, and will spend a lifetime learning how to see themselves in a more positive light. The potential of the aspect given ‘time and experience’  can teach them how to overcome obstacles, and often when difficulties are overcome and mastered it cultivates self-sufficiency.

Another important lesson for Sun-Saturn is to have loyalty to oneself no matter what. It’s about being self assured, and shining in your own solar glory, and this is achieved by recognizing your strengths and weakness. It can be challenging for the Sun to feel warm and alive when the rays of Saturn’s cold and restrictive energy is shadowing the brighter side of the Sun. The Sun-Saturn individual often has to work harder for recognition. The definition of self confidence is “having faith in your own abilities by setting goals and working towards them”.

Sun-Saturn needs to get past self resistance, and let the door open to allow change and opportunity in. Self doubt and fear of rejection blocks the creative flow of life.  In severe cases low self-confidence can cripple the individual However, it can also be the impetus and motivation to make something creative out of life because the fear of failure is so great.  Will-power is DEVELOPED through determination and persistence. The task is to first overcome  fear, self doubt (Saturn), and strive towards wholeness and completeness (Sun).

Sun-Saturn on the chart can describe a powerful and compulsive need to develop the self at all costs. Karmically being born with this aspect means you have come into this lifetime to mature and to learn how to be self confident, spontaneous, and vital.  Often Sun-Saturn needs to assume a role of responsibility or position of authority which will offer them the chance to value who they are and the role they play in society, but most importantly it helps to build self confidence. With The Sun in negative aspect to Saturn you need to find some form of self expression for both planets. Saturn denotes hard work and and the capacity to develop our maximum organizational capacities.

 Self Confidence story

student: Teacher, I think I have a problem.

teacher: Tell me, what is troubling you today?

student: When I am in a group of people, I feel uncomfortable. I hesitate to speak, I feel distant. The others do not give me much importance. This affects my mood very negatively and after a while I cannot participate at all.

teacher: I see. Your self-confidence is not high yet.  I can suggest some exercises.  It is not easy, but if you persist, you are going to see results.

 …six months later…

student: Teacher, it worked!

teacher: Really?  What happened?

student: Now whenever I am amongst people, I can talk and participate without any problem.  People pay attention to me.  I love this!

teacher: You really have improved very much.

student: Now that I have acquired self-confidence, what else do I need to do?

teacher: Keep doing the same exercises.

student: But why? I don’t have this problem any more, I am cured.

teacher: When you reach the level where you can be amongst people that will not pay any attention to you and you can still feel confident, then you will be cured.

Jade Goody

17 02 2009

This is an emotionally charged and sad topic today. Jade Goody has been on British television since she first appeared on Big Brother. The show which made her a public figure. Jade was ridiculed by the media because of her ignorance regarding general knowledge, she also cavorted naked in the big brother house, and was accused of backstabbing, bullying, bad behavior. Jade seemed to use poor judgement in many respects. However, despite public ridicule Jade managed to turn things around and became a T.V personality, with her own television shows, perfumes and other advertising brands. Jade quickly became one of the most successful big brother housemates accumulating a fortune. Jade’s popularity increased because of her infectious sense of humour and humble ability to laugh at her own mistakes.

Later Jade was given the opportunity to return to “Celebrity Big Brother” the house which made her  famous and changed her life forever. Jade happily accepted the opportunity, but unfortunately this time around she suffered from a reversal of fortune. Jade was accused of being a racist bully to housemate Shilpa Shetty. The programme was inundated with complaints about racism claims. When Jade was evicted from the house crowds were banned for safety reasons ”The People” now had hatred towards Jade. During an interview following her eviction she said she felt disgusted with herself, and her very publicised return to the house was branded as a very poor decision.

Astrology

Jade suffered a tough childhood, her father was a drug addict and criminal, and he died of a drug overdose at aged 42. Jade’s mother has also been a drug user and is now a Lesbian.

In 2004 a devastating blow was delivered to the young star when she was diagnosed with ovarian cancer, and told she only had a few months left to live. Jade is currently planning her own funeral, and is still being filmed in a running documentary. Jade is a mother of two beautiful young boys, and she is trying to make as much money as she can for her children’s future and education, she wants them to have the best possible opportunities in life as it will be difficult for them growing up without a mother.

Jades Natal Chart:

The Sun in Gemini is opposed Neptune, and aptly describes her father’s drug addiction (Neptune), and having no male influence in her life. Jade consequently can be unsure of her own identity. Astrologically Neptune can occur in charts where illness robs the individual of their energy and vitality for life.

Sun-Neptune can indicate times when she feels she has lost direction in life. Jade is now facing the challenge of finding meaning in her suffering. Through loss of hope, she may need to find value through a spiritual purpose.

Jade has poor boundaries (Neptune) around her sense of self (Sun), and she leaves herself open to be victimised by the press. Jade has to be careful of not letting her personal identity be swamped by the collective.

Sun-Neptune  falls across the Gemini-Sagittarius axis, Jades purpose in life is to communicate and  learn she will be exposed to different backgrounds and cultures challenging her to expand and find ”unity with the whole”. Losing a sense of self and surrendering, but gaining a new spiritual “perspective” (Gemini-Sagittarius).

Sun in Gemini trines Pluto in Libra, and this suggests she has the capacity to renew herself, even when faced with crisis, an ease in self-transformation. Jade’s Mercury in cancer has a sensitive perception to the environment, and she can hold subconscious prejudices and fears. Mercury in Cancer feels thoughts, and she can’t always objectively detach. Mercury squares the conjunction of Jupiter-Saturn in Libra. This is where I feel she has been challenged mentally. Jade will often blurt out her thoughts without fore-thought. Jade is careless (Jupiter) in communicating and often says the wrong thing.

Mercury is the dispositor of her Gemini Sun and she talks very fast with lots of energy. Jupiter broadens whatever planetary principle it contacts. Mercury-Jupiter describes how she is mentally being expanded. Jade is challenged to create a balanced (Libra) worldview in using judgement. Libra is where we weigh up the effects and consequences of our thoughts/actions. The contrast of Jupiter/Saturn describes the ups and downs in her personal life. In one sense Jade has judged others, and has been harshly judged herself.

Mercury-Saturn has insecurities about mental abilities and Jupiter tends to overdo and inflate in compensation. The cancer planets in her natal chart describe her sensitivity to moods and feelings in her immediate environment, she feels protective over those dear to her. Venus in Cancer square Saturn can describe an emotionally tough time in younger years, she may feel she is unworthy of love. Often water planets in the natal chart take rejection badly.

Mars in Gemini opposed Uranus adds a self-willed dimension to her character, an excitability that is difficult to contain. Angry outbursts are not uncommon with this aspect. Mars in Gemini can be verbally cutting, when under stress, a rebellious character who needs to make a statement. Jade illuminated collective issues and was a catalyst for change in the media (Gemini) by bringing cancer, death and taboo subjects into awareness (Mars in Gemini -Uranus in Scorpio).

The transits

Some tough transits have been happening in Jades chart. Transiting Pluto is opposed Mercury &Venus in Cancer. T. Pluto squares Jupiter & Saturn in Libra. Jade wants to be married before she dies, and it is extremely poignant exchanging vows with Pluto on Venus. Jade will be exchanging her wedding vows knowing the impending loss, but these are her wishes and she is making the most of the time she has left. Planning a wedding and a funeral at the same time is heartbreaking.

Transiting Pluto aspecting Saturn describes how she is forced to change. Something inside of her breaks down, and she can be resistant to the fate imposed upon her. Jade, however, has passed this stage and is making constructive use (Saturn) of this difficult period, she is making sure her children’s future will be secure. Transiting Pluto aspecting Jupiter, and she feels her future (Jupiter) has been destroyed (Pluto), feelings of hope for a better future can face total despair. Obviously with Libra aspects involved lots of legal documents are being drawn up at this time, for the children, her marriage, and will.

I hope she finds some peace in the end.

Kissinger/Diplomacy: The Art of Restraining Power

16 02 2009

Henry Alfred Kissinger (born Heinz Alfred Kissinger on May 27, 1923) is a German-born American political scientist, bureaucrat, diplomat, and winner of the Nobel Peace Prize. He served as National Security Advisor and later concurrently as Secretary of State in the Richard Nixon administration. Kissinger emerged unscathed from the Watergate scandal, and maintained his powerful position when Gerald Ford became President.

A proponent of Realpolitik, Kissinger played a dominant role in United States foreign policy between 1969 and 1977. During this period, he pioneered the policy of détente. He negotiated a settlement ending the war in Vietnam, but due to a combination of causes, the cease-fire proved unstable; no lasting peace resulted beyond the retreat of American troops.

In the Nixon and Ford administrations he cut a flamboyant figure, or the telegenicity of his companions made it seem so. He described himself as perhaps the only National Security Adviser to have a fan club. His foreign policy record made him a nemesis to the anti-war left and the anti-communist right.

Element Count Air = 22

Mode Count Mutable = 15

Element/Mode interpretation: = Highly intellectual, Verbally versatile. Mr Gemini!

Chart Analysis

Mercury R in Gemini sitting in the 12th (Communications/behind the scenes/private talks) study in institutions. In his biography online it states that as a child he was shy and withdrawn and was hesitant to speak. This can be connected to the introversion of the 12th house and Mercury turned inwards. However, the 12th also represents our hidden talents and the man who was unsure of his accent/communication grew up to be an advisor negotiating peace talks. Another interesting fact for Mercury in 12th is that at night he went to school (the 12th house rules sleep). Kissinger was also drafted into U.S Army as a German interpreter. Mercury is square to 10th house Uranus where vocations involve science/technology/anything anti establishment/politics/collective ideals. Mercury/Uranus has also brought conflicts and controversy through some of the deals he has made in private (12th) But since I am not a politics gal I won’t explain any further lol. Venus in Taurus 12th (love of security, love of good life, enjoys privacy/peace). Venus opposed Jupiter can be interpreted as foreign (Jupiter) relations (Venus). Kissinger was also Study Director in Nuclear Weapons and Foreign Policy at the Council on Foreign Relations.  Taurus is peace and stability of the land, sometimes when things can become stagnated. Scorpio is related to crisis and need for change, thus Kissinger attempts to bring peaceful relations between two countries, through both primary needs.

Mars in Gemini conjunct Asc trine Moon in Libra 5th. This describes Kissinger as naturally confident expressing ideas, along with direct communication and *ease* with diplomacy and persuasion, the gifted negotiator (Moon in Libra/5th). We can also describe Mars in Gemini as a person who gets involved in heated talks, the Librian Moon needs to balance and create harmony and is a natural deal maker. Neptune in Leo is angular and placed in the 3rd house, it is also part of a t.square with Venus in Taurus 12th house & Jupiter in Scorpio 6th.  The Taurus/Scorpio opposition relates to the material and physical desires and also to what constitutes security & power. With Neptune in 3rd there is a sensitive attunement to what others are thinking and feeling. Jupiter in Scorpio needs to be powerfully and emotionally involved in their beliefs. Jupiter through 6th can indicate work in travel involving foreign countries. For kissinger there has to be a lot of meaning attached to the work he does, he has to be of service to the collective (6th/12th) and inspire change, especially through security needs attached to Venus in Taurus. Planets in the 12th we can be given away or sacrificed. A longing for security, peace and harmony (Venus in Taurus 12th/Neptune) is evident in his chart. Everything leads back to the role of the Sun in the natal chart, and with his Sun in Gemini it describes kissinger’s sense of purpose lies in exchanging ideas, communicating through serving something greater than himself.

Racing Driver

Ralph Dale Earnhardt, Sr.

An American race car driver, best known for his career driving stock cars in NASCAR’s top division. Earnhardt had four children, Kerry, Kelley Earnhardt Elledge, Dale Jr., and Taylor Earnhardt. His widow, Teresa Earnhardt (whom he married in 1982) is the owner of Dale Earnhardt, Inc., the race team and merchandising corporation Earnhardt founded with her in February 1980.

Dale Earnhardt is known for his success in the Winston Cup Series, now known as the Sprint Cup Series. He won seventy-six races (including his only Daytona 500 victory in 1998), and his seven championships are tied for most all-time with Richard Petty. His highly aggressive driving style made him a fan favorite and earned him the nicknames “Ironhead”, “Mr. Restrictor Plate”, “The Man in Black” and most famously, “The Intimidator.”

Free Image Hosting at www.ImageShack.us

Dales has Mars in the 9th house conjunct M.C, and astrological studies on sports people have listed an angular Mars especially on the cadent side, and in Dales chart this would be true. Mars is square Pluto, and this is often describes a ruthless competitor. Sun and Mars are conjunct in the 9th house in Taurus, we have a Sun/Mars/Pluto combination involving fixed signs, showing us he has a strong determination to win and succeed, but not without it’s challenges, he isn’t likely to give up easily. Muhammad Ali has a similar combination to his 9th house Mars in Taurus. Sagittarius is on the 5th house cusp with it’s ruler Jupiter in Aries 8th (High speed). Jupiter is opposed Saturn in 2nd, and square to Chiron in 5th, and Uranus in 11th .

Dale was tragically killed in 2001. The natal chart I provided also show the transits on the day of the crash. Transiting Saturn is on the M.C square his natal Moon in Aquarius 6th (Saturn ruler of 6th.) forming an angular t,square with Pluto. We have a combination of  Moon/Saturn/Pluto, I would describe this configuration as some unexpected crisis at work (Moon/Aquarius/6th), affecting his public image (Saturn on M.C), often Saturn in 10th means a fall from grace natally,or the end of a career. Transiting Saturn and T. Uranus where square to eachother in the sky at the time of the crash and are right on Dales angles in his natal chart. Transiting Neptune is square his Sun. Natal Jupiter in Aries 8th = Travelling at a dangerously high speed during a sports rally when he hit (Saturn) a barrier and this caused his death (8th).

Astrology and Health

11 02 2009

body_human_2.jpg Body 1 image by DantesMama1226

Examining Health through astrology isn’t one of my major interests, but I have examined the charts of the mentally ill, not through any in depth studies just browsed through charts. When determining health or even manner of death you need to have an accurate birth time, because you need to look at the houses which are connected to our health by examining the planets, signs and rulers, especially the Asc and 6th house. I personally think this is one of the most difficult areas of astrology, but it is interesting looking at your chart to see what personal planets are being challenged and how these blockages could result in physical affects on the body.

Through the zodiac we have different planets/signs representing the different parts of the body. Here is where I turn into Dr Julie Medicine Woman (Lol).

  • Sun/Leo rules the heart, the centre of our being if the heart stops functioning the whole body fails. The Sun rules our vitality and sense of self confidence. How we relate to father.
  • Moon/Cancer rules of stomach, breasts, bodily fluids and astrologically relates to mother, sense of security and well being/the emotional body.
  • Mercury/Gemini rules the hands and arms, lungs, and relates to how we communicate, intellectual and verbal expression.
  •  Venus/Libra rules the kidneys, ovaries and in astrology Venus rules relationships, equal partnerships, how balanced we are when relating.
  • Mars/Aries rules the blood, what keeps our hearts pumping. Mars serves the Sun’s (Heart) purpose. Mars also rules the immune system, and it has been theorised that too much Neptune and not enough Mars can lead to a weak immune system.
  • Jupiter/Sagittarius rules liver, fat, metabolism, astrologically it relates to our self belief and ability to grow.
  • Saturn/Capricorn Bones, teeth, hair the structure of the body. Generally what holds your mound of flesh together. Eww
  • Uranus/Aquarius Nervous system, co-ordination, the electrical impulses in the body. Astrologically it rules intuition and new growth.
  • Neptune/Pisces pineal gland, appendix, right brain function. Rules the imagination and spirituality.
  • Pluto/Scorpio Elimination, reproduction organs. Rules transformation.

Chart Examples

Chart case number one: Heart Attack

heart.gif Human Heart image by BloodfulBliss21

This man has had four attacks before the age of 37.

Diagnosis: Sun in Aquarius 6th square a Jupiter/Saturn conjunction in Taurus/9th house. The heart was found to have minor blockage (Saturn). I think a lot of strain was through the expansion & contraction of the Jupiter/Saturn conjunction to his Sun. His heart tubes had to be expanded by balloon (Jupiter).

Case number Two: Psychological trauma

Maya-Angelou-1.jpg Maya-Angelou.jpg image by njohnson0920

Maya Angelou as a young girl was mute for 5 years after being raped by her mothers boyfriend. Her uncles murdered him for the crime, and she blamed her confession for killing him. Maya refused to speak for a long time. I would look at this as a psychological traumatic event, which affected her spiritual health. The Sun (chart ruler) is placed in Aries 8th house conjunct Jupiter and in exact square to Pluto. Mercury is in Pisces 7th square to Saturn in Sagittarius 4th. A lot of fear and anxiety (Saturn) connected to her her intellectual and verbal expression (Mercury). Early past conditioning through beliefs formed in the family background, leading to difficulty in communicating to others.

Case number three: Accident/Paralyzed

christopherreeve-1.jpg christopher reeves image by gabethemegababe

Christopher Reeves was paralyzed through a horse riding accident and confined to a wheelchair. I am wary of saying what indicated his accident astrologically, mainly because such things cannot be said with certainty. The transit charts for all these cases need to be looked at. The most significant aspect which stands out to me in regards to the accident is the Moon/Mars in Sagittarius 5th (recreational sport) conjunction square to the 8th house cusp. Ruler of 6th house is Saturn which is in Libra 3rd conjunct Neptune. Reeves suffered from allergies and asthma.

Pluto is conjunct Asc in Leo, and square to Jupiter in Taurus 10th, often Pluto can tear down belief systems and you have to find meaning in a completely new way. Here is a reading by Howard Sasportas, he is a psychological and karmic astrologer. There were some very interesting insights into the Jupiter/Pluto aspect which is angular/powerful in Reeves chart:

Jupiter represents a principle which encourages us to look towards the future – to our aims and direction in life. When Pluto forms a hard aspect to Jupiter, we are likely to go through a period where our existing aims are questioned or challenged. We could meet insurmountable blocks that force us to rethink the direction in which we have been heading. We experience a phase of not knowing what are goals are, a depressing feeling of being lost, we used to know where we are going but now it seems we have no future and nowhere that beckons us. Or we see a future but it looks doomed, dark, frightening or bleak, as if something threatening and ominous awaits us around the next corner, maybe even death itself. Our immediate reaction is thoughts of suicide and ending it all. But the best advice is waiting it out until the psyche reorganizes itself. As with any death or loss, we need to mourn for our lost future, for those possibilities we hoped to realize but which now have betrayed us. We have little choice but to stay stuck In a dark place for a while, since Pluto might force Jupiter’s sense of the future underground. But given time, new directions and aims will emerge and we will act from greater conviction and a deeper sense of purpose.
