Libra

Libra the symbol of the scales connects this sign with justice, and with a strong sense of fair play this can be seen in their ability to remain impartial and consider all sides of the case. Learning to balance is not an easy task, the need to be tolerant and non judgmental, to accept other people have concepts, realities, and values which are very different from their own belief system. “Fair and “equal” are important words to Libra, their always aware of other people’s viewpoints and are reluctant to assert themselves, without first consulting others. Sometimes this constant balancing act, when performed for the sake of partnership, can weigh them down. Libra needs peace and harmony and will do almost anything to avoid quarrels and emotional storms. It is hard for Librian’s to feel anger, jealousy, or hatred because these type of emotions don’t fit in with their ideal image of how they should be feeling. Thus they will often repress such feelings, and turn a blind eye, to anything coarse, ugly or unpleasant. It can be shattering for Libra to deal with the darker side of human nature. Libra finds it very difficult to deal with the emotional world, they can carry a lot of guilt around, because of all the nasty things churning around inside of them unexpressed.

Libra’s love is a theoretical one. Libra lifts the ordinary human relationship into the world of platonic ideals and introduces the impersonal concept of justice, and ideal that reflects the nature of cause and effect on moral and legal levels. Those actions taken by the innocently self seeking Aries are now shown to have social consequences at this Librian stage of unfoldment. What is clear here is that we can’t do what we please, at least not at the expense of others. Their needs have to be considered as well, we are learning to see both sides of a relationship. Since Libra is learning about harmony the other side of the coin invariably comes along, to cause a little friction and to tip the scales, typically leaving the balancer out of sorts. Librian’s have to be careful not to express too much sweetness and light, since it becomes very hard for them to sustain such an aura of peace. The ability to handle the downside of being human is also important for inner growth. Libra has to learn to be a fighter, and not just of social causes, they need to learn how to defend themselves against a personal attack. The key is to fight fairly and intelligently. It’s O.K to be kind and considerate to others, but not if your the one always bending over backwards for others, especially to please those who never think to return the favour. Why risk getting hurt over and over again by expert abusers, who only look at relationships one way, their way. Libra has a big problem with selfishness, it is constantly adjusting decisions to suit everybody else. There is a lot of polarizing going on inside inside this sign, and Libra is always searching for balance. Libra’s biggest fear is of being disliked, it destroys them to know that somebody doesn’t like them. Libra needs to lovingly permit themselves to give back as good as they get.

Libra has the ability to bring opposites together, that would otherwise be in conflict. A great gift for diplomacy and socialability, along with the ability to see both sides of a situation, can really bring harmony into all of our relationships. Broken unions go against Librian’s deepest motivations, they will go out of their way to smooth troubles over.
